Foundations and Philanthropists

Foundations and philanthropists are interested in cooperation and collaboration with various stakeholders in pursuit of sustainable development including actions in cities and human settlements.

One of the outcomes of WUF10 was the establishment of the Foundation and Philanthropy Platform for sustainable urban development. UN-Habitat’s Foundations Platform aims to foster collaborative partnerships and structure engagement with foundations and philanthropy to co-create solutions for sustainable urban development. The Platform consists of some 17 major foundations and philanthropies operating in over 60 countries. Through the Platform, foundations and UN-Habitat will discuss thematic areas of mutual interest and programmes for possible collaboration and share updates on joint work and initiatives with other development partners. The Platform will also explore opportunities to engage in key events to present innovative approaches and solutions to advance sustainable urban development.
