National Report 2022
Malta's strategic aims for its Urban Agenda, as outlined in the Strategic Plan for the Environment and Development (SPED), are in line with the goals of the New Urban Agenda. The main objective is the minimisation of urbanization pressures, guiding urban activity towards an integrated and good quality of urban life. The availability of adequate shelter through housing policies and the achievement of sustainable human settlements, form part of the local urban strategy. These aims, together with a focus on efficient use of resources and the protection of Malta’s cultural and natural heritage, are essential for a more sustainable urban future for the Islands.
