National Progress Reports on the Implementation of the New Urban Agenda

The New Urban Agenda was adopted in 2016 during the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III). As part of its follow-up and review mechanisms, the Agenda encourages Member States to "carry out a periodic follow-up to and review of the New Urban Agenda, ensuring coherence at the national, regional and global levels, in order to track progress, assess the impact and ensure the Agenda's effective and timely implementation, accountability to our citizens and transparency, in an inclusive manner" (paragraph 161).

These National Progress Reports will serve as a basis for qualitative and quantitative analysis of the progress made in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda and internationally agreed goals and targets relevant to sustainable urbanization and human settlements. The analysis is to be based on activities of national, subnational, and local governments supplemented by contributions from the United Nations system, regional and sub-regional organizations, major groups, and relevant stakeholders.

Prepared every four years, the second set of National Progress Reports were due on 1^st August 2025. National Progress Reports are to be submitted in a PDF format to nua@un.org and cc urbanagendaplatform@un.org, including information on focal points and their alternatives (name, position, organization, email, etc.).
